Eight big orders have been signed for 120,000 DWT dual-fuel tankers

On April 29, Guangzhou shipbuilding International Co., Ltd. (GSI), which is affiliated with the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), held a “cloud signing” ceremony with the Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., which is the subsidiary wholly-owned Bank of Communications. Eight 120,000-ton dual-fuel crude oil/ product tankers have been signed at the ceremony. The total contract value exceeded three billion yuan.
Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, the entire business activity was completed online from the project approach to the formal signing. Even the contract signing has been completed online. With its comprehensive strength in this type of tanker construction, GSI won the order with offline contact.
This type of vessel is an optimized and customer-made LR II dual-fuel oil tanker by GSI for shipowners. It is propelled by fuel oil and LNG (liquefied natural gas) duel fuel. It can be loaded 120,000 DWT with the service speed of 14.5 knots. It has been independently developed and designed by GSI. It has been fully optimized and upgraded in terms of new-line development, main full structure design, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply system equipment. It also added LNG fuel tank, gas supply system, and other relevant dual-fuel system.
It meets the International Maritime Organization (IMO) TIER III emission standard. It also has the characteristics of fast speed, light light-weight, low energy consumption and strong adaptability. In terms of energy consumption indicators, environmental performance and reliability requirements, it has reached the world's top level of the same type of ship. In terms of ship emission reduction and low-carbon technology development, it represents the future development direction of the shipping industry and shipbuilding industry, which is highly favored by shipowners. The first shipbuilding project is scheduled to start in the first half of 2021 and delivered to shipowners in the first half of 2022.
